Help Zimpa & Dolker Get to Thailand!

At Himalayan Youth Foundation our commitment to fostering our Kailash Kids doesn’t stop when they graduate and move on to independent young adult lives. We are always thrilled to see our graduates achieving and excelling in their next chapters as well!

Two of our recent Kailash graduates, Dolker and Zimpa, have received the prestigious opportunity to participate in an internship program in Thailand for six months as part of their collegiate studies. While these internships would provide invaluable educational and practical work experience, the cost of the program is no small feat. At HYF, we want endeavour to give every single child and alum access to as many opportunities as possible, but we need your help. We are seeking $3,800 to cover the fees for Dolker and Zimpa to be a part of this incredible internship experience.

Meet Dolker & Zimpa

Originally from the Humla district of Nepal, Dolker Lama arrived at Kailash Home in 2004, graduated in 2015, and passed her Grade 12 exam a year later.  Despite losing both of her parents at a young age, Dolker excelled during her time at Kailash and now lives with her brother in Kathmandu.  She is currently a student at Kathmandu Academy of Tourism and Hospitality working toward her Bachelors Degree in Travel & Tourism Studies.  Since graduating from Kailash, Dolker has also been working as an assistant in Insurance Department at Swacon International Hospital.  She recently acquired her Trekking Guide License and after graduation plans to work as a trekking guide in the tour/travel sector.

Zimpa Sangmo Baiji came to Kailash in 2002 from the Dolpa region of Nepal.  She graduated in 2015 and passed her Grade 12 exam the next year.  She now lives in Swoyambhu with her sister.  Since leaving Kailash, Zimpa has dedicated time to her language studies and working part time.  She currently attends Kathmandu Academy of Tourism and Hospitality and also works as a tour operator with Infinity Tours and Travels.  After graduating with her Bachelors Degree in Travel & Tourism Studies, she plans to open her own trekking agency.
